Another year has flown by, at a tempo reminiscent of Cherokee. There have been some wonderful highlights including the recent 64th Annual Jazz Convention where many friends gathered to see out 2009 and welcome the New Year.
In 2010 we're looking forward to marking the months as they pass with many wonderful events and milestones. In February, the band will be rushing back to Melbourne from the always enjoyable Grampians Jazz Festival for a relaxing, romantic Valentine's Day celebration at Wilson Botanic Park. For those who haven't had the chance to come along to this event over the years, make a booking, pack a picnic and get set to enjoy Anita's dulcet tones against a wonderful backdrop.
In March, the Inverloch Jazz Festival remains a firm favourite. Down on the Bass Coast in Victoria, it's a festival whose atmosphere has to be experienced to be appreciated. Featuring a large number of diverse, talented musicians, it has something to suit every taste and Anita Harris and friends have not missed this festival in too many years to count. On the festival front, Merimbula has again made the calendar and the band is very happy to announce they've been invited to return to the Dubbo Jazz Festival in August 2010. This is the 20th Annual festival - an impressive milestone - and if you haven't made the trip to Dubbo (or if you have, and have enjoyed it as much as we have) it may be time to look at your jazz calendar for the year.
For other upcoming gigs and festivals, keep an eye on the Gigs page or join our Mailing List to keep an ear to the ground for those events that pop up unexpectedly. It also appears certain (or as certain as these things can be) that another album is being recorded and released in 2010 so stay in touch.
